Join us for a talk on the great queer icons of the 1970s and 80s when Rock N' Roll was in its prime! Music historian Richard Killeaney will explore the impact they had on music, popular culture, and politics. He will discuss luminaries such as Elton John, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Joan Jett, k.d. lang, and Melissa Etheridge, as well as lesser-known artists whose work was every bit as powerful.
Richard Killeaney is a vinyl collector and DJ living in Bridgeport, CT. He started collecting vinyl records during the pandemic and has played a various venues throughout Connecticut. Collecting all eras and genres of music, Richard focuses on artists that are part of the LGBTQ community. He has taught at various colleges for more than 20 years.
