Program Description

Event Details

In honor of Jane Austen's 250th birthday this December, you are invited to a Regency holiday party at the Wallingford Public Library! We will be joined by cultural historian Rachel Koladis, who will share with us some of the traditions and activities that were fashionable in Jane's lifetime. She will also discuss how Jane herself celebrated Christmas, as well as its representation in her body of work. Participants will have the opportunity to make a fragrant clove-studded pomander ornament, which was a popular gift to give during the Regency era, and enjoy spiced cider and shortbread cookies while listening to a selection of period music. Guests are welcome and encouraged to dress in historical costume!
