Event Details
Rachel Sayet, a Mohegan chef, anthropologist, and storyteller, will discuss the history of indigenous cuisine in southern New England and some of the key seasonal foods that Native people have been eating since time immemorial. During this demonstration, she will prepare a three sisters salad with apple cider vinaigrette and cornbread "Thanksgiving" sandwiches. The audience will have the chance to engage with Rachel and taste both recipes during the program.

Rachel recently published the essay “Thanksgivings” in the 2025 nonfiction anthology Boundless: Native American Abundance in Art and Literature, edited by Lisa Crossman and Heid Erdrich. She also recently appeared on the cooking show America the Bountiful on PBS.
