About the Collection
The Connecticut Collection preserves Wallingford’s history for public research. The collection includes artifacts such as photos, postcards, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, brochures, maps, yearbooks, town directories, genealogies and more.
These items are currently only accessible to the public by request and availability of staff to acquire the items, or by appointment only.
Using the Connecticut Collection
- The Connecticut Collection is a closed stacks area not available for public browsing.
- Staff supervision is required for use or reproduction of materials in order to safeguard their handling. Staff will retrieve and open all materials and limit the number of items brought out as they deem necessary.
- Materials must remain on-site during use or reproduction.
- Only approved writing materials (pencils or personal computers) may be used for taking notes while using material from the collection.
- Patrons are asked to handle materials carefully. Patrons must keep papers in their folders, maintaining the order in which they are arranged and handling them as little as possible.
Credit should appear in each publication, display, or other use of WPL’s CT Collection materials indicating that the materials are from the Wallingford Public Library. The following credit line will be given under any previously unpublished materials when they are displayed, used by commercial media, or published:

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to help in reproduction if, in its judgment, fulfillment would involve violation of copyright law.
